Mag6 here,
All fellow european journeymen (and ladies) will be excited to know that I have procured myself a dinner suit for the forthcoming meal and I am now "stoney broke!" Bomber sent me to Matalans to purchase the aforementioned item, but when they asked me for my Matalan card (I didn't have one), I replied in the negative and was promptly asked to join their club. I think my immediate response was "bollocks to that" and I promptly left for my reliable Marks and Spencer (the old St Michaels NSM), where I purchased my suit. I now have to take out a bank loan for the shirt and shoes but fret not, I have my appointment with the bank manager this morning.
I should have known after Bomber told me that "the tents would be fine" on our earlier trip this year to Ypres in Belgium, that I should have questioned his advice about Matalans. I later found out, after a very wet night under canvass, that he purchased the bloody tents from Tescos! Black's, yes; Berghaus, even better; but bloody Tescos? I ask you - can this man every be trusted again? Shallacking complete....... over.
